Pink Panther

Pink Panther cartoon illustration artI just finished up this fun Pink Panther cartoon character illustration for the current Sugar Frosted Goodness contest “Saturday Morning Cartoons“.

As I mentioned on the post at SFG, the Pink Panther was always one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. There was just something unique about the art direction and style that just made an impression on me back then.

I also liked the fact that the Pink Panther didn’t speak. There’s something that just cool about having the guts to do that with your main character.

For this drawing I went for more of the “lounge lizard” approach used in the title sequences for the Pink Panther films, which I believe is where the Pink Panther cartoon character and animated series came from. In the movie, the Pink Panther was actually a diamond.

I sketched this out roughly on paper, and then scanned and re-drew in Photoshop. Color, shading and highlights were added on separate layers, and I also experimented with the non-black outlines — something I am always meaning to work with but never actually get down to doing it on any artwork. I thought this was a great time to try it out.

Cool Pink Panther graphic – can you put that image on a disc golf disc? Preferrably black Innova putter.
Be a great gift for my daughter.
    Let me know.

Thanks for the kudos. Unfortunately I have no idea how one would get an image on a disc golf disc, never did anything like that before.

    Hi

I am looking to start up my own business as a beauty therapist and I am going to be calling it The Pink Pamper, I came across your cartoon version of the pink panther and was wondering if I could use it on my businesss cards? I would need to tweak it a bit, ie: put some long eye lahes on it and make it look a bit girly. I wasn’t sure if it was copy righted so thought it appropriate to ask your pemission.
