Adobe says CS3 Needs Tweaks for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard

Macintosh OS X Finder iconJust a quick heads up for Mac Adobe users out there: Adobe has stated that Creative Suite 3 is not quite ready for the new “Leopard” Mac OS X 10.5 operating system from Apple. Adobe says they are working on it and should have things ready by mid-November.

Really, Adobe can’t be blamed since Apple has only just recently settled on a Gold Master (the final version) of 10.5, so there are sure to be things they still need to work on since the last developer release a week or two ago. Seems Apple must have been scrambling to get this out since they delayed it from the Spring and promised in November.

Just more reasons to wait to upgrade. I usually wait until the 10.x.2 release, just to be safe. Lately though I think most of the major kinks in OS X are worked out, and most apps are probably ready to go for Leopard. I just can’t afford to have a machine down since I use it for work.

Of course, if the rumored Mac Pro updates are true, I may have Leopard sooner than I planned. If that’s the case, most likely I will take advantage of the new on-the-fly disk partitioning in Leopard and clone or migrate my current setup to a new partition so I can swap back if necessary.

I wasn’tall that keen on 10.5 until I read Apple’s “300″ feature list for Leopard, where I found out about some cool new things that haven’t really garnered any major attention. The disk partitioning is one, along with a whole slew of .Mac sync features all over the system (I am a recent .Mac subscriber, and I am so happy to have most of my computer life in sync now).

I think of all the new features, I am most looking forward to the new Notes & To-Dos in Mail; the fact that you can link an email message to a to-do may just be the feature that will get me to upgrade, as silly as that sounds. I am sure there are lots of things I will love oonce I have it, but this is one that I know will save me a ton of time. The remote access features in the new Finder look awesome.

MacWold has a brief article on Leopard features for creative types out there. Includes new PDF features & tools in Preview, Font auto-activation syste-wide (sweet!) and more.
