The Adobe Illustrator Exchange: Great Resource For Illustrator Actions, Brushes, Scripts and More

A hit-or-miss resource I always forget to check, the Adobe Exchange has a decent amount of downloadable resources for use with just about every piece of software they offer. In particular here I am focusing on Illustrator section of the Exchange.

The Illustrator Exchange has actions, brushes, styles, swatches, plug-ins, scripts, templates, tutorials and symbols to browse or search, and there’s a 5-star rating system as well to hopefully help you sort the good from the not-so-good.

You’ll need a free Adobe account to use the Exchange if you don’t already have one. Once logged in, you’ll have access to everything, and also be able to set favorites and alerts to specific resources you find useful. You can even upload and submit your own.

Some of the featured downloads are ‘Flags of the World’, a blank t-shirt template, a world map and more. There’s also lots of great Actions for file preparation.

There’s a multitude of licenses here: free, demos, sharware, etc. One downside is that the type of license is only displayed when viewing the specific page of the item you are interested in.

As I mentioned, this is a decent resource, but at times it’s kind of lacking. Perhaps due to the smaller user-base of Illustrator geeks than Photoshop or InDesign, perhaps due to the relative obscurity of the Adobe Exchange. Regardless, it’s worth a look; sometimes you’ll find exactly what you need.
