Cartoon panda mascot character sketch
Rough character sketch of a cartoon panda mascot character for a client project designing toddler shoes.
This sketch was rejected as being not appealing to toddler-aged children, which I found odd.

While I'm not an expert on toddlers, it looks toddler-friendly to me. It's a cute panda.

I "think" I understand what the client is saying. From what I've gathered toddler art/logo, etc. Have more flat, pastel design. Also, animals for toddlers have dot eyes, instead of the cartoon eyes. Maybe I'm wrong?

Looks really good, but I can see what the client means.
This looks like an adult panda, and if you round out the face a bit, you'd be surprised how much more toddler-like it will become.

Thanks for the feedback, and I see what you guys are saying about the eyes & rounding out the face. The character itself should be toddler-ish in addition to being cute. Interesting, will have to run that by the client.
Thanks again!

I don't understand how this isn't appealing to toddlers. It looks like a friendly cute stuffed bear. Kids love that right? Maybe it needs a swine flu mask.
