This vector illustration is the most recent in an ongoing series of images based on psychedelic interpretations of symbols and icons. Most of the pieces include an eye as the central design element, and all works have their inspiration in Mayan, Aztec and Egpytian heiroglyphic art. The illustrations revolve around a loose language of design elements including spirals, flames, bone-like structures, engine and machine parts, and usually employ a symmetrical design. This work in particular focuses on the Masonic 'Eye in the Pyramid' most commonly found on the back of a one dollar bill. The Eye in the Pyramid (or Mechamid as I have named it) was created completely in Adobe Illustrator. The desire for a crisp, clean and uniformly repetive look to the design elements required Illustrator's powerful tools. |
