This vector illustration and was commissioned by the director of the Ohio Canal Corridor as part of their giveaway package for students who join to help with the annual River Sweep cleanup project. The supplied concept was to include a famous piece of artwork with a frog replacing the main figure (the OCC's mascot is a frog). The idea is to use this "famous painting" theme each year with a new piece of art. As this year was the first illustration in the series, I suggested we go with the most famous painting in the Western world, and the "Mona Leapa" was born. After a few initial sketches (it was harder than you'd think to make a frog resemble the Mona Lisa and still look like a frog) the concept art was scanned and finalized in Illustrator. Fun project, and the team over at OCC was great to work with. |
